Logistics management is that part of supply chain management that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers' requirements.
Supply chain consists of various activities that take place between the production and distribution of materials. Logistics and supply chain management includes different sections of supply chain management like materials purchase, management of transport, warehousing, packaging and distribution, order processing, inventory manager. Logistics is concerned with both materials flow and information flow. While the materials flow from the supplier to consumer, the information flows the other way round. It is not only concerned with inventory and resource utilization, customer response also falls under the ambit of logistics.
